My 3 Favourite Australia Walking Holidays

Author: Colin B. Richards

I have just returned from a trip to Australia and I am planning on returning in October for a walking holiday,, expert travel advice , so I thought it would be interesting to log my 3 favourite Australia walking holidays from the, expert travel advice , research I have done to date.

I have put a summary of each trip below, but for anyone interested in reading more I will be publishing a separate article for each with the detailed routes, suggested timings, places of interest and hopefully some advice for each route.

My favourites:

No 1 - Great Ocean Walk, Australia. This walk covers 104km in 6 days and follows the path of the famous Great Ocean Road, from Apollo Bay to the 12-Apostles, expert travel advice , .

The whole route has been developed into dedicated hiking trails by Parks Victoria, the owners of the trail itself, and it offers some of the most spectacular scenary in Australia for walkers. It is a stunning walk, but one that is perfect to build, expert travel advice , into a holiday, with September to May being the, expert travel advice ,, expert travel advice , best time to walk.

No 2 - The Bibbulmun Track. This track is the longest walking trail in Western Australia, winding its way over 900km from the foothills of Perth through Jarrah and Karri Forests to the rugged coastline of Albany.

As a holiday trek you can join at certain landmarks and walk sections - but I have it on my list of 'lifetime' challenges. I'm hoping that I still have enough energy, by the time I am old enough to have enough time!!

No 3 - The Larapinta Trail is my 3rd favourite Australia walking trail and one of the finest walks in Australia. The trail passes through the high ridgelines of the West MacDonnell Ranges, the vast flood plains and the razorback rocky outcrops. With a simpulan destination of Alice Springs, it's a great way to spend 6-7 days of walking, followed by a few days resting up and exploring Alice Springs.

Obviously given the sheer magnitude of Australia, there are an endless amount of walks and tracks, but much of the walking is hard going either because of the terrain or the weather (or both). My advice is to make plenty of time, plan it well, get fit and travel with a local expert or company - when walking in some of these areas you really do need that level of support.

I will be posting a few more of my top 3 travel experiences and look forward to reading more.
